About El Médano
El Médano grew organically around its bay, and it shows: no high-rise hotels, a weekly market, and a town square that fills with locals in the evening. The trade wind that blows most of the year has made the bay a regular stop on the world windsurfing tour, and the beach stretches for almost two kilometres towards the red cone of Montaña Roja.
The drive from the airport
El Médano is the second-closest resort to Tenerife South: eight kilometres and around ten minutes, most of it on one straight road past the airport fence. From Tenerife North it is an 85-minute island crossing, so almost everyone flies into the south for this town.
